Established in 2011, Psychology Caffe is a group practice specialising in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents. We also have psychologists and social workers providing adult psychological assessment and treatment.
Based in the historic township of Latrobe in a classic Federation house, the practice is centrally located and has a private entrance and parking off the main street. At Psychology Caffe we are committed to the idea that “therapy starts at the door” and have created a warm and inviting atmosphere for clients. For many people, even getting to an appointment can be stressful. Our waiting area has been designed as a space of reflection and calm – a place to pause within the rush of our busy lives. Clients are offered tea and coffee on arrival and treated with respect at all times.
Psychology Caffe is proud to house a team of highly skilled psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists. With decades of combined experience, our clinicians are able to offer a range of treatment and assessment services to child, adolescent and adult clients. Seeing a Psychologist
The clinicians at Psychology Caffe are keen to tailor treatments to the needs of the client. It is therefore important that we have as much information as possible to make the most of your valuable time and resources.
At initial appointments for children under 12 years of age, we prefer to see a parent, guardian or carer prior to the appointment with the child. This allows us to gather as much background history as possible, along with relevant previous reports or assessment relating to the child. This enables a more directed and targeted assessment which will prevent unnecessary delays or difficulties in pinpointing the problem.
The practice recognises that it can be difficult to take the first step in seeking help for stress, anxiety, depression and other issues, and so this website aims to provide details on the services we offer, along with referral and fee information. To find out more, visit our Services and Fees & Referrals pages.
Frequently Asked Questions
The practice also provides therapeutic intervention under Primary Health Networks Funding, which does not attract a fee for health care card holders – please see your General Practitioner for referral under PHN Funding or a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). Please note that due to current demand, waiting times may be longer for services under this funding.
Family Court or other Third Party consultations are charged at recommended Australian Psychological Society (APS) or service provider rates. Please contact the principal psychologist or practice manager for further information.
Your GP may consider Mental Health Care Plan, under which you may claim 6-10 sessions with an AHPRA provider, and a PHN referral is 6-12 sessions as indicated on your referral.
